• 2012 City of Charlotte MLK Parade will begin at 11 a.m. Jan. 14. The parade route is 1.5 miles and will begin at 11th Street and N.Tryon Street and continue to Stonewall Street. For more information, visit: mlk.charlottevibe.com/.

• Legacy Concert with Micah Stampley and Blanche McCallister-Dykes will be held at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts, 430 St. Tryon St. The show is a tribute of narration, music, dance and the Civil Rights Movement. Tickets start at $15. All proceeds will benefit the Elwood-Edna Foundation for Youth. For more information, call (704) 372-1000. • Crossroads Charlotte is sponsoring "Bridging Musical Worlds," celebrating the life of the Rev. King at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Historic Excelsior Club, 921 Beatties Ford Road. The free event features the Charlotte Symphony String Quartet with 'A Sign Of The Times' jazz ensemble. • MLK Day Celebration at the Gantt and at Wells Fargo Auditorium at Knight Theater will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 16. The events are all free. The day includes honoring Dr. King with writing workshops, adult poetry slams, film screenings, panel discussions, plays and more. College St. The McCrorey Family YMCA hosts the event. The guest speaker is the Bishop Vashti McKenzie. Tickets are $35. Kings Drive. The forum will include a volunteer fair, on site volunteer projects, a free glucose screening and activities for children. There will also be a collection from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for school supplies, gently used books, winter clothing and non-perishable food items. Photographs include images taken by Ernest Withers featuring Dr. King being stopped by police at Medgar Evers' funeral in Jackson, Miss. The museum is located at 345 N.
